Here at Delano Assembly
we support many
ministries and missionaries,
from our local Food Shelf and
state wide
youth programs,
to missionaries in
foreign countries all
across the world.
We also encourage getting
involved which can
include getting to know our
missionaries and praying for
them on a regular basis,
supporting them financially
or maybe even taking a missions
trip.
If you would like to be involved
in missions. please let the
church office know.

Christmas Holiday Season
Samaritans Purse
Women's Ministries will again be
partnering with Samaritans Purse and
Operation Christmas Child for the shoebox
collection.
Operation
Christmas Child brings joy and hope to
children in desperate situations around the
world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the
Good News of God’s love. This program of
Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity
for people of all ages to be involved in a
simple, hands-on missions project while
focusing on the true meaning of
Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift.
Along with shoe box gifts, millions of
children are given Gospel booklets in their
own language. In 2004, they collected over 7
million shoe box gifts worldwide and
distributed them to children in 95
countries.
We will be bringing in empty plastic shoebox
size bins and asking everyone to fill it
with items according to age and boy or girl
and Samaritans Purse distributes the boxes.
Look for future information coming!
Adopt-A-Family
The holiday season is especially tough for
many folks, even many folks in our very own
city.
This program provides food and gifts to
dozens of individuals and families at
Christmas. This is a special opportunity
for all of us who have been blessed with
prosperity to make a difference in someone
else's life. Just imaging what it would mean
to a parent who could not afford Christmas
gifts to be able to give their child a gift
because of your generosity.
How does it work?
Village Church, one of the many churches we
work with, collects names of folks in need
through: word-of-mouth, contacts to the
church, the food shelf, Helping Hands of
Delano, and other various avenues.
Approximately 3 month's before Christmas,
Love INC interviews hundreds of
families and matches them up with a
volunteer family. The entire process is
completely confidential.
No contact information is ever shared
between the adopted family and the adoptee.
However the adopting family will receive a
card that represents the family you've been
assigned. The card will detail the number of
children, their ages and sex, and a few
suggestions on their needs and desires,
along with a family "code" number.
Once you receive the card, all you do is go
shopping for the family, wrap the gifts, and
bring them to church. There the main
coordinator will arrange to have them picked
up and delivered to your adopted family in
time for Christmas.
